HISTORY
Jacomau was founded in 1990 under the name Moulures Jacomau 2000 inc. The company then manufactured spruce mouldings. In 1995, Jean-Marc Rodrigue bought the company in part, and in 1996, he acquired the totality of the company’s shares.
From 1997 to 2002, Jacomau moved from a business with 4,200 square feet of space to 14,000 square feet; its turnover also evolved to more than 3.5 million dollars annually. In 2004, the company’s name was changed to Jacomau inc. in order to simplify communications with the United States customers, which are increasingly becoming the major part of the sales figures. In that year, the company invested more than 1.3 million dollars in equipment and expansions so as to add 8,000 square feet of production surface totaling 22,000 square feet.
In 2007, Jacomau continued to stimulate growth by acquiring the company named Inter-Jac inc. that integrated its operations. In doing so, Jean-Marc Rodrigue then proceeded to expand the plant by adding 10,500 square feet of surface. Jacomau thereby gave itself facilities totaling more than 32,500 square feet and a production capacity of over 9 million FBM per year. The company continues to specialize in the second and third processing of eastern white pine.
It is in January 2009 that Jean-Marc Rodrigue and Gaétane Veilleux handed the general management of the business to their daughter Valérie. Valérie Rodrigue then boasted more than seven years of experience at Jacomau in production and ongoing improvement. It was also then that Sophie Rodrigue (Valérie’s sister) joined the team to take over customer-service and order-coordination tasks. The company further elected a board of directors and created dynamic and expert partnerships for growth management.
